Your lock opens for security. It does not open for anyone else.

Using this Travel Sentry® Approved lock allows your luggage to be opened, inspected and relocked by security authorities without damage.

That single sentence is the whole point. A locked bag that security authorities cannot open is a bag they may cut open. A Travel Sentry Approved lock lets them open it with a recognized tool, inspect the contents and lock it again, leaving your case as they found it.

What the standard is

Travel Sentry is a global security standard used by luggage makers and security agencies. According to Travel Sentry, the system is in place at more than 650 airports across over 35 countries. The red diamond on a case tells screening staff that the lock is part of that standard.

Before you set your combination

Two things worth knowing, because neither can be undone afterwards:

  • There is no possibility to reset the lock if you have forgotten the code, so please record your combination in a safe and accessible place for future reference.
  • No key is provided.

I have forgotten my combination

Unfortunately, once you set your combination on your lock, it cannot be overridden.

You may be able to recover your combination if you have some time and patience. If your lock is a 3 digit combination lock, and you have about 30 minutes to spare, then please try all of the possible combinations from 000-999 (000, 001, 002, 003 through to 999). You may think this will take a long time, but it should not take you more than 30 minutes, and if you can remember the first digit of your forgotten code then it will take significantly less than 30 minutes. Try it out, as it will save you from potentially having to buy a new lock.
